Hey guys,

onOne released version 6 of their Perfect Photo Suite and I had a closer look at it. Today I wanna share my review with you!

First impression

After opening the program you get a short introduction into each module that helps you over the first chaotic impression. Nonetheless, you need some time to get used to it. But once you understand the program, onOne Perfect Photo Suite is really interesting!

Perfect Photo is available as standalone and as plugin for e.g Lightroom and Photoshop.

Perfect Mask

To create a mask is (after getting used to the tool) a real help to get mask for objects and persons faster. But to get a really satisfying result I lacked a. an original to work with and b. the time.

Portrait Tool

I think I’d use the Portrait tool most of the modules, because of the short amount of time you need to create a result worth showing. I combination with LR there will be many cases were Photoshop won’t be needed anymore, despite of course, the really tough cases and if you want a high-end-beauty-retouch.

Resizer

The Resizer does what it promises :) It resizes but as I hardly ever get into situations where I need to resize I didn’t play around with it a lot. Only thing I noticed was that an extreme increase in size will make the result look like a painting.

Perfect Effects

The effects look nice but I missed the “wow” effect I had with the niksoftware filter packs and the detailed options they offer. But you get a huge collection of filters in different categories.

Photo Frame

Photo Frame … well, if you like frames, you’ll love it :) There is a huge collection! The quality of the frames is perfect and one doesn’t argue about taste ;)

Focal Point

With Focal Point you can create wonderful Tilt-Shift effects in a very good quality. I couldn’t find another reason for this tool as it seems to create a blurred layer with a mask.

You need a fast computer!

I think it should be said, that you need a fast computer! You need RAM and a powerful CPU to really enjoy working with the Suite.

To sum it up:

In my opinion the filters’ quality is really good and when you start to understand how to use the buttons, brushes and options they do a wonderful job. You can change a lot of detailed adjustments  to get your individual result. The suite seems to be a wonderful addition to LR or for PS-lazybones.

Love,

Kate
